As part of its ten-point agenda for the commemoration of the 500 years of the arrival of the image of Santo Niño in Cebu, the Santo Niño at 500 pilgrimage team successfully held a pilgrim visit of the image of Santo Niño in Ilocos Norte on September 9 – 15, 2019.
With the support of the local ordinary Bishop Renato Mayugba, D.D., the team conducted the pilgrimage to the parishes of the Diocese of Laoag namely San Nicolas and Augustinian Mission Station both in Vintar, St. Anne in Piddig, St. John Bosco in Dingras and St. William Cathedral in Laoag City.
The week-long pilgrimage started with a convoy of vehicles going to San Nicolas Parish where a welcome ceremony was held. A Eucharistic celebration, veneration to the image and midnight vigil are the major highlights of the pilgrim visit to the parishes. The activities were actively participated by a crowd of devotees and parishioners.
The team was headed by Rev. Fr. Pacifico Nohara, Jr., OSA and Rev. Fr. Aladdin P. Luzon, OSA of the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu with the full support of the Cebu volunteers and the Order of St. Augustine Province of Santo Niño de Cebu – Philippines.
