RATIONALE:

This coming year 2021, the Philippines and its entire Catholic community will celebrate the quincentennial (500 years) anniversary of the introduction of Christianity in the country. It will also be precisely the 500th commemoration of the arrival of the image of the Sto. Nino in Cebu. It was on April 14, 1521 that the image was given to Queen Juana as a gift from Ferdinand Magellan after she was baptized together with Rajah Humabon and a good number of natives.

The friars of the Order of Saint Augustine of the Province of Sto. Niño de Cebu-Philippines, the caretakers of the miraculous image since its finding in 1565, have outlined necessary preparations for the said event. This logo-making contest is thus intended to spur a wider participation from the Catholic faithful and devotees of the Sto. Nino to such historic religious celebration. Amateur and professional artists are invited to take part in the contest. The winning entry will eventually be the official logo of the Augustinian Province of Sto. Niño de Cebu- Philippines for this quincentennial celebration.
